The SAHO Bargaining Committee met with the Saskatchewan Union of Nurses (SUN) on December 16, 17, and 18, 2025.

During this round of negotiations, the parties continued discussions focused on modernizing the collective agreement to better reflect the current configuration of health services across Saskatchewan. The parties continued challenging but important discussions on language related to multi-site and community-based positions. In addition, productive discussions were held on improving Lay-Off and Re-Employment language. Both sides also agreed to changes regarding joint union-management committees and other language updates that reflect the organizational shift from Regional Health Authorities to the Saskatchewan Health Authority and Affiliates. 

Both committees remain engaged in exploring solutions that balance the needs identified by SUN with the operational priorities of the provincial health authority. While there are complex issues still to be addressed, both parties recognize the importance of continuing dialogue to support a sustainable and responsive healthcare system.

This round of bargaining represents more than the renewal of a collective agreement. It provides an opportunity for the Employer and the Union to address system-level changes that support patient care, including reducing barriers created by former health region boundaries, supporting the development of more full-time nursing positions, advancing provincial programs, and leveraging technology to improve patient access to care.

As healthcare delivery continues to evolve—through technological innovation and expanded opportunities to provide care closer to home—both parties acknowledge the importance of safe, supportive work environments and an engaged nursing workforce in achieving these shared goals.

Negotiations are scheduled to resume on January 20, 21, 22, and 23, 2026.
