The SAHO Bargaining Committee and the Saskatchewan Government and General Employees’ Union Local 3024 (SGEU) met in late January, March, and reconvened again in April.
Over the course of these sessions the parties engaged in productive and collaborative discussions that have advanced the collective bargaining process.
Several items have been agreed to, including a Land Acknowledgement that reflects a shared commitment to respect and reconciliation. This work was supported by the participation of both bargaining committees in a Truth and Reconciliation education session on January 26, 2026. The parties also reached agreement on language related to Vacation Periods and a new Letter of Understanding (LOU) for the Recruitment and Retention of Indigenous Employees.
Constructive discussions are ongoing on non-monetary items, including Occupational Health and Safety, grandfathering of education, and provisions related to hours of work such as modified schedules and casual work. These discussions have brought the parties closer to agreement on key non-monetary priorities and have resulted in the union withdrawing some of their proposals.
This progress reflects the shared commitment of both parties to advancing negotiations in a collaborative, respectful, and solution-focused manner that supports employees, the Employer, and the patients we serve.
The next bargaining session is scheduled for May 26, 27, and 28, 2026 in Saskatoon.
