Saskatchewan health regions ratify SUN collective agreement

The Saskatchewan Association of Health Organizations (SAHO) is pleased that the employers have ratified the memorandum of agreement with the Saskatchewan Union of Nurses (SUN). SAHO was informed today that SUN members have also ratified the agreement and both parties will be meeting in the coming weeks to sign the new collective agreement.

The two-year collective agreement (April 1, 2012 to March 31, 2014) includes minimal changes to language. In lieu of a general wage increase in the first year, members will receive a 2% lump sum payment. Year two provides for a 2% general wage increase. “We are very pleased an agreement was reached in a short period of time, in a collaborative manner and without disruption to health care services. The monetary aspect of the agreement allows the employers and the employees to maintain competitive wage rates within the western Canadian health care market,” stated Bernie Young, CEO of SAHO.

Related to the collective agreement is the renewal of a partnership agreement with SUN, the Ministry of Health, and Regional Health Authorities. The three parties will formalize the partnership agreement in the coming weeks.
